CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC DIVERSE COMMUNITY PROJECT

We are Kate and Leila, two passionate UniSA Occupational Therapy students collaborating with West Coast Youth and Community Support (WCYCS) on an exciting 9-week project! In collaboration with WCYCS we want to connect with those from different cultural backgrounds to help us understand your experiences here in Port Lincoln and support positive changes you want to see in your community.

We’re looking to talk to people from a range of countries and cultural groups and hear about your experience in Port Lincoln. What's been good, what's been hard, and any suggestions for change. Together, the project can bring attention to community needs that may have gone unnoticed.

Do you have anything in mind? Your voice is crucial! Let's connect— we would love to meet and get to know you. Join us in creating a vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates cultural diversity.

Further information on the project: The first stage of the project is about forming connections and relationships between WCYCS and individuals and communities from different cultural backgrounds. Once we have spent time getting to know each other, we’ll be able to collaboratively create and host events and activities for us and our friends to attend.

These events and interactions can also give us the chance to better understand the community’s needs through hearing more voices. The next stage will be forming a reference group made up of individuals from different cultural communities and stakeholders to get together and discuss this further, with the goal of developing a plan for change. Following this, we’ll put this plan into place – we’re excited to figure out what this will look like together! Ultimately, we aim to understand any unmet needs of the culturally diverse communities in Port Lincoln and support the community to make the changes they want to see.

We would love to hear from you! Tell us about your self!

We would love to start getting to know you and your experience here.
