Expression of Interest for Upcoming Volunteering Opportunity

Have you heard of "Community-led Safe Spaces"?

Roses in the Ocean is Australia’s national lived experience of suicide organisation. Over the last decade, they have developed best practice in lived experience engagement, integration and partnership.

They are inviting local communities to submit an Expression of Interest for an important type of community-based service to support people who are experiencing suicidal distress.

Roses in the Ocean’s National Community-led Safe Spaces Project aims to establish 15 community led, volunteer-run non-clinical Safe Spaces where people can find compassionate and empathetic support amongst people who have a shared experience. We believe that Port Lincoln would benefit from a supportive safe such as this. We can't do it without a volunteer working group though... could you be someone who could be a part of this amazing initiative?

The Safe Space volunteer workforce, known as Peer CARE Companions, are local people with lived experience of suicidal distress who will be trained by Roses in the Ocean to use their lived experience to support others. The local working group will be supported by Roses in the Ocean to establish and maintain a Safe Space in their community.

If you have lived experience of suicidal distress, have time to offer to other people in the evenings and are interested in getting a Community-led Safe Space up and running in Port Lincoln, please let Lain know via the Mentally Fit EP Facebook page or via Email.
